welcomed 26 with my best friends, the celebration echoed by casual-day hikers in paths marked with native and endemic flora (rafflesia, kapa-kapa/rose grape, tayabak/jade vine) i only saw in the raxenne maniquiz planners i collected. ⛰️🥾🌺

the river burns like a torch in my hand; an ode to the beginning of my quarterlife— guiding, wild, and alive. 🌄 to document a heartfelt (heat felt rin) day: laking pasasalamat sa mga ayta-abellen ng cabangan, zambales na patuloy pino-protektahan ang mt. mariglem at mga ilog sa paanan nito. working with their local women's organization through wlb, i feel as if i have my own mountains to climb as a young woman who only learned about indigenous culture and communities through textbooks and through advocacies mostly shouted through online platforms. three years into work, i am deeply grateful to be in the receiving end of the stories they share and of their humility as strongly lived as their bravery. and in our hike, i felt like i've summited—not because i shared the actual summit with the sea of crowds, but because i felt connected more than i could have in any other mountain, knowing it was a student of iskwela peminista who supported us in arranging it, and as i passed and shared conversations with a few women leaders who warmly greeted and welcomed us along the way. thanks to these connections, as i turn 25, with my life summit feeling like it's peaks away, every step feels more grounded and sensible and driven by collective power. sa pagbisita, sana ay batiin, pakinggan at suportahan ang mga katutubong binuksan ang kanilang lupa na kanilang buhay para sa atin. 🌄

in-between feminist conversations: put on my hat as a part-time pool ranger (not a thing), tumakbo at dumaan sa mini talipapa para sa dahon ng malunggay—inuna ang malunggay pandesal, got a few laps in, tinuruan si jelen maglaro ng uno (at muntik niya na maging villain origin story ito), and wlb-cooked meals that remind me of that one viral quote, "if life is a never ending loop of dirty dishes [...] that means life is also a never ending loop of homecooked meals." and just like the waves, reflecting, shifting, persisting, shaping, moving becomes a way of life.
