carousel 12.90% engagedHeadshot updates: Steely Grey to Stormy White and back to shoulder-length. This is the third time since I returned to acting that I've worked with Matthew. As usual, we had a great time in our session, chatting about life and the nuances of facial expressions. Scroll to see my very first professional acting headshot, shot by Matthew in 2019. As someone who's been growing out her natural greys (or what I fondly call "my sparkles"), documenting the transitions over time through studio shots always kinda surprises me - there's 6 years between these shots. Not for nothin' - I think the stormy white suits me... 📷: @mhamiltonvisuals
carousel 12.90% engaged#latergram The happy but exhausted face of an actor who's arrived home after filming 4 scenes this past weekend in 3 locations across 2 cities and 2 different productions. (Plus! I got my ASL homework done too!). As I prepped for the weekend I was thinking about the Actors Iceberg, it's kinda fitting it's been making the rounds again lately. It must be love, right? #actorslifeforme #actorthings #silveractor #silveractors #actorsskills #actorsofig #actorsatwork #actorsonset #actorslabphilly
carousel 10.64% engagedTwenty years is a long time. Last week I said goodbye to this beloved little #greyfur. I feel fortunate to have been Tank's person. An adventure cat from the git-go, we moved 10 times in 11 years, and he thought every new pile of boxes was a custom enrichment activity built just for him. I adopted him from a woman in Delran, NJ, when he was 5-weeks old. She rescued cats abandoned near her property. Her daughter gave me his favorite toy, and I promised her I'd keep it, which I did for over 15 years until it completely disintegrated. I eventually learned that whatever mix he was, he was part Korat cat, a good luck cat. Tank followed me from room to room and met me at the door after work. He was the thread of consistency through all the significant changes in my life for two decades, whether positive or challenging. He was a constant and balancing presence - And he liked to eat flowers and Chunky Monkey ice cream (just the banana part, don't at me). ❤️ (1) A close-up. (2) Top: Baby Tank finding room in the entertainment center; Bottom: Adult Tank finding room in the entertainment center. (3) Me and Tank, leash training to get him through security at the airport as my carry-on. (4) Tank checking the view from our hotel in Culver City on the day we landed on the West Coast. We'd move two more times before we landed in Rachel's backyard (well, their guest house). @rachaelhelene (5) Tank lounging (6) Surveying his kingdom (aka my postage-stamp backyard in Philadelphia). (7) "If I fits, I sits" at the house I shared with Sarah Anne. @saranmatthews (8) Blep. (9) "I'm helping." (10) "I'd like more skritches, please." A lot of gratitude for my Mom's help in caring for him these past few months. 🙏 @_marianne_hurley

Strategy summary
What's working, what to fix, and what to ship next.
TL;DR
Personal storytelling carousels are the engagement engine, with post 15 hitting 123 likes and post 12 drawing 38 comments on a pet tribute, tripling average image performance around 25 likes from 1,062 followers. Vulnerable shares on acting evolution, family, and pets outperform quick snaps by building emotional ties that prompt interaction. Philly life's casual authenticity adds warmth but underperforms without narrative depth. The biggest leak is glacial posting at 0.1/week, starving algorithm momentum and audience retention despite proven high-performers. Consistent cadence around nature and tributes could double visibility fast. Lean into carousels for depth, timing Wednesdays for peak response.
Working
5- Acting carousels like posts 0 and 15 generate 100+ likes via stories.
- Pet and family posts like 12 excel in comments from relatability.
- Nature imagery consistently hits 40-60 likes with simple appeal.
- Philly local content builds niche loyalty quietly.
- High-effort captions correlate with top engagement spikes.
Risks
5- Increase cadence beyond 0.1 posts per week to feed the algorithm.
- Shift from 60% low-engagement images to more carousels.
- Reduce vague daily snaps that average under 25 likes.
- Add calls to action in captions for comments.
- Avoid sporadic gaps spanning months.
Ship next
5- Build next acting carousel like post 0 with before/after headshots.
- Post pet tribute update to recapture post 12's 38 comments.
- Schedule 3 weekly posts targeting Wednesdays.
- Test reel format on nature walks for reach.
- Plan family milestone series starting with parents' next anniversary.
